Die Pulteney Distillery, die ihre Single Malts als "Old Pulteney" abfüllt, wurde 1826 in der Hafenstadt Wick in den nördlichen Highlands gegründet. Als die Brennerei eröffnet wurde, erlebte die Stadt Wick einen massiven Boom in der Heringsfischerei. Die vielen in der Fischerei beschäftigten Menschen zwangen den Gemeinderat der Stadt, in Wick ein Alkoholverbot auszurufen. Pulteney ist eine von wenigen schottischen Destillerien, die im Stadtzentrum liegen und nicht außerhalb.

Old Pulteney 15 Jahre reifte zuerst in ehemaligen Bourbonfässern und erhielt im Anschluss eine Nachreifung in Sherryfässern. Abgefüllt mit 46 % vol. Alkohol, ohne Farbstoff und nicht kältefiltriert.

 

Aroma: Helle Trockenfrüchte, aromatische Gewürznoten, Süße, reife Zitrusnoten, schokoladige Eiche.

Geschmack: Süß mit Zimt und Vanille, würzige Noten mit Nelke und Muskat, Orangenschale und trocken-nussige Eiche.
