Die Hakushu Distillery wurde im Jahr 1973 in der Ortschaft Toribara der ehemaligen Stadt Hakushu  im Wald an den Hängen des Berges Kaikoma gegründet. Neben Yamazaki ist Hakushu die zweite Brennerei des Unternehmens Suntory, welches sich auf die Produktion von Single Malt Whisky konzentriert. Allerdings findet bei Hakushu leicht getorftes Malz Verwendung, was bei Yamazaki nicht der Fall ist..

Hakushu 12 Jahre reifte die komplette Zeit in einer Kombination aus ehemaligen Bourbon- und Sherryfässern, ergänzt um frische Fässer aus japanischer Eiche (Mizunara). Abgefüllt mit 43 vol. % Alkohol, ohne Farbstoff und nicht kältefiltriert.

 

Aroma: Mild mit blumigen Noten, hellen Früchten, etwas Süße und einem Hauch Torfrauch.

Geschmack: Fruchtig mit grünen Äpfeln und Birnen, etwas Vanille, zart würzig, leicht rauchig, Eiche.
