Auf dem Gelände der Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky befand sich bereits im Jahr 1812 eine Whiskeybrennerei. Diese wurde von einem gewissen Elijah Pepper eröffnet. Nach mehreren Besitzerwechseln wurde die Destillerie 1970 von Brown-Forman geschlossen und verkauft. Einige Jahre später allerdings wurde sie zurückgekauft, modernisiert und in Betrieb genommen. Woodford Reserve verwendet zur Destillation untypischerweise schottische Potsills, die den Brennblasen der Auchentoshan Distillery in Glasgow nachempfunden sind.

Woodford Reserve Bourbon reifte für nicht definierte Zeit in frischen Fässern aus amerikanischer Weisseiche (Virgin Oak). Abgefüllt mit 43,2 % vol. Alkohol, ohne Farbstoff.

 

Aroma: Süß mit Vanille und Früchten, trockene Eichenholznote, mild würzig.

Geschmack: Fruchtig mit Kirschen, Nelke und süßem Karamell, nussige Eiche.
